3. To connect your laptop to a projector, you'll need an adapter with HDMI out and VGA in. Almost any adapter with HDMI out should work; i've been using the one I got from my last laptop (linked below). You can also try this VGA-to-HDMI converter which connects to your Mac via USB or ThunderBolt. Some of these adapters may require you to press Fn+F2, F3 or F4 keys to switch between various modes (VGA, HDMI and DisplayPort).
