I was one of these people, part of a collective that lived and worked underground. We lived in a complex, a complex network of rooms and passages, living complexes connected by underground passageways and secret paths. We had become accustomed to secrecy, to living uncomfortably far below ground without ever being seen or heard.

We did not use technology to mesmerise, to manipulate, to capture our friends and then watch them as we dissected their souls. We did not create monsters to place in forgotten underground labs. We did not pollute the land or divert its natural resources for our own use. We were not the monsters. They were.

These monsters had a cure for cancer, they had advanced technologies that could put an end to debilitating diseases and then used these cures as biological weapons. They made a pact with an evil man to achieve eternal life,
